Welcome back to Araw Araw!

Good morning. It may be a rare occasion for pedestrians in the Philippines to use pedestrian crossing lanes, but it shouldn’t matter because cars slow down speed up once they see a pedestrian about to cross. Our employee — Kuya Edgar — has a dog, however, that begs to differ. Check this video as his dog (Papi) crosses a busy Binan highway, with the use of a pedestrian lane, to visit Kuya Edgar at work.

EV Super Station to Electrify New Clark City

By Tobias Bautista

New Clark City is getting a jolt of modernity with a new Electric Vehicle (EV) super station, complete with charging terminals and a retail center. Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) CEO Joshua Bingcang inked a deal with Double 11 Properties for the long-term lease of a one-hectare plot, marking the first development of its kind in the area.

BCDA expects this project to generate PHP100 million in government revenues, create 500 jobs, and increase foot traffic in the rising metropolis. The facility, with over 20 retail stores, is designed to serve 200,000 motorists annually.

Double 11 is investing at least PHP100 million in the super station, which will feature charging terminals, a mixed-use complex, and retail businesses. An additional hectare and PHP100 million investment are planned for Phase 2.

“This partnership is a milestone for New Clark City, paving the way for a green, smart metropolis,” said Bingcang.

AI-Powered Boom: Philippines Eyes PHP2 Trillion Annual Gain

by Tobias Bautista

Imagine the Philippines raking in more than PHP2 trillion a year just by harnessing the power of AI. National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan believes it's possible, but only if we boost our internet game.

At the launch of the National AI Strategy Roadmap 2.0, Balisacan highlighted that AI could inject USD15.7 trillion into the global economy by 2030, with the Philippines potentially grabbing PHP2.6 trillion annually. Retail, logistics, manufacturing, and finance sectors are poised for a major upgrade.

Generative AI could be a game-changer, slashing production costs and transforming industries. Balisacan envisions the Philippines becoming a leader in creative industries and software development.

How? All this depends on a robust internet infrastructure. Enter the Konektadong Pinoy Act, a proposed bill aiming to provide affordable internet for all Filipinos. Better connectivity could unlock the full potential of AI and propel the country into a digital future.

🇵🇭 Bask in the moment: Gilas Pilipinas just defeated host country no.6 Latvia in the 2024 OQT

By Koby del Rosario

Our Gilas Pilipinas just defeated the hosting nation, Latvia, in the first game of their 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, 89-80. Think about it, this was our country’s first win over any European team in FIBA-sanctioned competition since 1960.

The sleepless night was well worth it for the Filipino faithful as despite being ranked #38 in the world, Gilas Pilipinas rose to the occasion and led by as much as 26 points against the #6 ranked country.

While the win can be credited to Coach Tim Cone and the whole team for their winning gameplan, the “Michael Jordan of Philppine Basketball”, Justin Brownlee, dropped a near triple double of 26 points with nine rebounds and assists apiece. 7-foot-4 sensation Kai Sotto complimented him in the game with 18 markers and 8 boards.

Representing the country with pride, the team uncorked both hustle and well-preparedness despite only deploying an 11-man roster—showing the world we can hang with the best of them.

Best of luck to our fellow countrymen as they will advance to the semifinals with merely a win over Georgia or even through losing to the aforementioned opponent by not more than 19 points.
