šŸ‘Ÿ Work-Life Balance Harmony as a Jordan Athlete* (ft. Troy Bautista)

When in Manila

Troy is the Jordan Brand Specialist for the Philippines. He leads all marketing campaigns in the country ā€” from staging events (like streetball tournaments, skills camps, etc.) to seeding the latest shoes to athletes and influencers. He took Integrated Marketing Communication (Bachelorā€™s + Masterā€™s) in University of Asia & the Pacific.

šŸ¤© Share with us a career highlight youā€™ve had?

A highlight is the recently-concluded DAYO23 Streetball Invitational because it was the biggest event that I had ever led both in terms of scale (first-ever streetball tournament hosted by Jordan Brand in the Philippines, featured globally) and in terms of size (it was a massive partnership between Jordan Brand, Titan, and our events agency).

āŒš Besides time management, how do you juggle work, golf, hoops, family, and friends?

I try my best to juggle work, hobbies, family, and my social life by setting priorities on a regular basis. Before every quarter or month, I have an idea of what part of my life would need to be a priority and what part can take a backseat. I try to strike work-life harmony since I acknowledge that we can't really strike a perfect balance. There are times when work is the #1 priority, but there are also times when family is the focus. Harmony is achieved when I am able to touch on all facets of my life without feeling frustration that other parts need to take a backseat.

ā³ At certain points, something(s) gotta go. How do you judge what to compromise on (sleep, exercise, friends, etc.) and when?

I am able to judge on what to compromise and when by setting my "big rocksā€ in life first. For me, my big rocks are God, my family (my wife), and myself (work, health, sleep). I set these big rocks as my anchors that take a big part of my life. From there, everything else comes and goes depending on the week or month. There are months when I can go out with friends, attend weddings, work out daily, etc. All these are dictated by how much extra time I have outside of my "big rocks". At the end of the day, you need to acknowledge that you can't do everything and can't be there for everyone, and that's okay. As J.Cole said "You can't be everything for everybody"
