👫 The Philippines’ “First Couple” Hosts Senatorial Casual Dinner

The Last Supper didn’t last too long when Jesus held it with his apostles. But maybe, the First Couple’s “First Supper” will? Philippine President Bonging Marcos and his wife, Liza, hosted some Senators (and their plus ones!) at the Bahay Pangulo for a dinner last Tuesday. This comes fresh - literally a day - after ex-Senate President Miguel Zubiri resigned from his post. He notes that he did not followed the instructions from “the powers that be”, which is why he decided to stepped down.

If you’re into adding drama to a simple photo, then now is the time to do so! Take note of the Senators that were invited to this “casual” dinner and found in the photos. Robin Padilla, Alan Cayetano, Francis Tolentino, Raffy Tulfo, Sherwin Gatchalian, Mark Villar, Cynthia Villar, Pia Cayetano, Grace Poe, Jinggoy Estrada, and Loren Legarda. Oh and how can we forget? New Senate President Chin Escudero. How about those who aren’t there? We’ll let you identify those names 😉

👨‍✈️ Collins Aerospace taking off in the Philippines

US giant Collins Aerospace, a maker of airplane innards for Boeing and Airbus, is gearing up for a bigger role in the Philippines. The company is eyeing to expand its product line and supply chain locally within the next five years.

Here's the scoop:

• More than seats: They're currently producing airplane seats, galleys, and lavatories, but they're looking to add more products to their menu.

• Growing pains (the good kind): The company is investing even more in the Philippines, building on its existing 4.4-hectare facility in Batangas.

• Local love: They're partnering with airlines in the region to understand their needs and support the industry's growth.

• Supply chain symphony: As they expand their product range, they also plan to strengthen their local supply chain network.

This is a big deal for the Philippines:

• Jobs, jobs, jobs: This expansion could lead to more job opportunities in the aerospace sector.

• High-tech boost: The Philippines is positioning itself as a player in the high-tech manufacturing industry.

So, what's next? We'll have to wait and see what new airplane parts they'll be brewing up in the Philippines. But one thing's for sure: Collins Aerospace is taking off in the Philippines!

🚨 Senator Estrada with New Revelations

New Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada already making waves in the Alice Guo hearing that started yesterday, May 22. Senator Estrada claims that the allegedly Made-In-China Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s live-in parter is actually managing operations of illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in their area. To make matters worse, Sen. Jinggoy also claims that this live-in parter also happens to be a public official. cue in scary piano sounds, dun dun dun… 😱

“I heard from a very reliable source that the operation of Pogo in her town — the one operating it, managing it, or handling it, is her partner. Incidentally, her partner is also a public official”

Despite all this, Mayor Guo remains strong in denying any connections to Pogos in the country and allegations that she is a Chinese spy. If you have time, YouTube search soundbites from the hearing (watch out for Senator Loren Legarda’s no-BS questioning!!)

Maybe Mayor Guo is right. Maybe she isn’t Made in China. She apparently doesn’t break so easily. 😉

🏀 Boston Celtics hold on to win Game 1 of the ECF in overtime

The Boston Celtics were able to hold off a late surge against the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, 133-128, to take a 1-0 series lead.

Despite falling behind late in the final period, Jaylen Brown’s (26 pts, 7 rebs, 5 assts) clutch three-pointer knotted the score up to extend the game to overtime, where Jayson Tatum’s 36 points and 12 rebounds led the C’s to the victory. Two-way guard Jrue Holiday also had an outstanding outing with 28 markers, seven boards, and eight dimes.

Stunned by losing out on a potential 1-0 series lead, the Pacers had all five of its starters in double digits with All-Star Tyrese Haliburton leading the way with 25 points and 10 assists.

The 2024 NBA Playoffs continue this morning with the start of the Western Conference Finals, as the ECF continues on Friday morning Philippine time.

⌛️ UST defeats NU in Filoil EcoOil Cup off a Nic Cabañero buzzer-beating floater

As the 17th Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup elimination round continues, May 22nd had an intense nip-and-tuck affair between the UST Growling Tigers and the NU Bulldogs.

With the whole game going down the wire, UST standout Nic Cabañero took it upon himself to lead his squad in overtime as his floater to beat the buzzer gave them their first win of the tournament, 76-75. He finished the fixture with 19 points as he was supplemented by Hinda Tounkara’s and Christian Manaytay’s 18 and 15 markers, respectively.

The Bulldogs look to bounce back in their next game against the UE Red Warriors as import Mo Diassana and Reinhard Jumanoy led their team with 17 and 15 points, apiece.
